Change Your Biz Growth Mindset (or Lose)
Don't let the competition pass you by
What’s up everyone,
Hire the best talent. Pull the right growth levers. Prioritize customer service.
Yea, these are all important to growth. But there’s something you could (are?) be overlooking: your mindset.
On Monday’s podcast, Dalton Hatch, founder of DH Plumbing, opened up about the mindset and personal transformation that fueled his growth.
Do you agree that the right mindset is critical to business success? |
What does the word “right” mean in this context?
In many ways, the right mindset is knowing you have the right processes and solutions in place.
Example: FieldPulse allows you to customize your entire field service operation (like dispatch).
That gives you confidence. That gives you security. That gives you peace of mind.
And Consider this ⬇️
On average, FieldPulse customers grow 78% year over year.
What would that type of growth do for your mindset?
Schedule a demo, improve your field service operations, and transform your mindset.

Before we talk about Dalton’s mindset transformation, let’s review three top resources from the past few days:

Transform Your Mindset, Transform Your Biz
On this week’s episode of the podcast, I sat down with Dalton Hatch from DH Plumbing—and his story hit different.
He didn’t come on to talk sales scripts or growth hacks.
He came on to talk about what happens when you hit the wall.
Hard.
Picture this:
It’s 1 a.m.
Dalton’s standing in his shop, alone.
He’s got $500 to his name, a mortgage due, and five mouths to feed.
He’s crying. Not metaphorically—literally breaking down.
And that’s when something shifted.
“I was the guy that made fun of God… openly mocked Christians. And I’m like, ‘It’s yours, dude. I obviously can’t do this.’”
That moment of surrender, he says, changed everything.
The very next day? Booked out. Fully. No joke.
Now you can call it faith, fate, energy—whatever label fits.
But here’s the real insight: Dalton let go of control, dropped the ego, and things started moving.
And it wasn’t just a one-time miracle.
The way he runs his business changed too.
“We don’t put sales as the most important thing. We just take really good care of people.”
That’s it.
No funnels. No gimmicks. Just doing right by the customer—consistently.
The revenue followed.
What stood out to me most?
Dalton didn’t fix his business by trying harder.
He transformed it by thinking differently.
Here’s what you can take from that:
Letting go of control can unlock momentum.
Hitting rock bottom might be the start of real growth.
You don’t always need to lead with sales—lead with service.
The internal shift always happens before the external results.
We all talk about mindset.
Dalton lived it.
If you’re in a rough spot—or just feeling stuck—rewind that moment in your head:
1 a.m., $500 left, surrender.
Now ask: What needs to shift in your mindset before the business follows?
John, How Do You Generate Leads?
It’s one of the questions I get the most. While there’s no “single source” of leads, Service Scalers is my go-to provider.
We partner with Service Scalers to maximize our Local Service Ads (LSAs), optimize our Google My Business profiles, manage PPC campaigns—and a lot more.
The result? Thousands of leads and hundreds of thousands of dollars generated in 2025 alone.
